Delhi Plans Parks, Gaming Zones on Cleared Landfill Sites
Delhi is working on cleaning up old garbage dumps called landfill sites.
The MCD plans to turn these areas into parks, places for games, and businesses after the trash is removed.
A special court order says that some of the land should become forests.
The MCD is asking for ideas on how to use the land.
They want to make the sites nice for people and also possibly make money from them.
They aim to finish cleaning the sites by late 2026 or 2027.
MCD plans to develop parks and gaming zones on cleared landfill sites.
Biomining and bioremediation are underway at Bhalswa, Okhla, and Ghazipur sites.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) mandated forest development on a portion of the land.
The MCD is seeking proposals for land use, considering commercial and public benefits.
The Suniyo Scheme, offering property tax incentives, has been extended.
