BMC and Lalbaugcha Raja Turn Festival Waste Into Hospital Power
During the Ganesh festival, many people will create food and other wet waste.
The BMC and Lalbaugcha Raja Mandal plan to collect this waste separately.
Special machines at four hospitals will turn the waste into biogas and electricity.
About 8 to 10 tonnes of waste may be collected each day.
In total, about 80 tonnes could be processed over 11 days.
The project may produce about 7,744 units of renewable electricity.
Hospitals can use the power for lights and other suitable needs.
The exact amount of electricity will depend on the waste received and how the machines operate.
The BMC and Lalbaugcha Raja Mandal will process Ganeshotsav food and organic waste into renewable electricity.
About 8 to 10 metric tonnes of wet waste is expected daily from the mandal’s Prasad Kaksh and Annachhatra.
The segregated waste will be transported to biomethanation plants at four BMC hospitals.
Around 80 metric tonnes of waste could be processed over 11 days, potentially generating 7,744 units of electricity.
The electricity will support suitable hospital needs, including lighting in wards, corridors and common areas.
