Delhi High Court Orders RBI for Stricter Credit Card Norms
The Delhi High Court recently told the Reserve Bank of India to make rules stricter for handling complaints about credit cards.
They did this because a lawyer was bothered by people from the bank who kept asking for money he didn't owe.
The court said this behavior was not okay and gave the lawyer Rs 1 lakh as compensation.
The court also told the RBI to make sure banks listen to customers' complaints properly and not reject them just because of small mistakes.
They want banks to have clear rules and people to help solve problems.
The bank involved had to give back the money they took from the lawyer and promise not to lower his credit score because of this issue.
Delhi High Court granted Rs 1 lakh compensation to an advocate harassed by bank's recovery agents.
Court condemned the conduct of recovery agents for sending threatening messages and visiting the advocate's residence.
RBI directed to ensure complaints are not rejected due to small errors and to strengthen the ombudsman's office.
Banks must create a flowchart on their websites to guide customers on how to register complaints.
Court ordered the bank to reverse all charges and restore the advocate's CIBIL score.
