WHO: Gaza Facing Mass Starvation Due to Blockade
Gaza is experiencing severe hunger, which the WHO says is caused by a lack of aid.
Food and medical supplies are not reaching people in Gaza because of restrictions on what can be delivered.
The lack of food has led to widespread starvation, with many people, including children, suffering and dying.
Aid agencies are struggling to provide enough food and medical care to those in need.
Both Israel and Hamas have differing views regarding who is responsible for the crisis.
WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says Gaza is facing man-made mass starvation due to a blockade.
Gaza's food supplies were cut off in March 2024, then restrictions were eased in May, leading to insufficient aid.
Over 100 aid agencies have warned of hunger in Gaza, where aid sits untouched outside the territory.
The Gaza health ministry reported ten additional starvation deaths overnight, bringing the total to 111.
The WHO reports that at least 21 children have died from malnutrition in 2024, and centers for treatment are full.
