Alcon Acquires Village Roadshow Film Library for $417.5M
Imagine a company that owns a bunch of movies, like 'Mad Max' and 'The Matrix,' called Village Roadshow.
This company had money problems and couldn't pay its bills, so it went bankrupt.
Another company, Alcon, saw this as an opportunity and bought all of Village Roadshow's movie library for a large sum of money.
This means Alcon now owns the rights to all those movies, and they'll get the money when people watch them.
Alcon already had its own collection of movies and now they are expanding.
Alcon Media Group acquired Village Roadshow Entertainment Group's film library for $417.5 million.
The acquisition includes rights to 108 feature films, distribution rights, and cash flows.
The library features films like 'Mad Max: Fury Road,' 'Ocean's Eleven,' and 'The Matrix trilogy.'
Village Roadshow filed for bankruptcy in March.
Alcon's library also includes films such as 'Blade Runner 2049' and 'The Blind Side.'
