Nepal Landslide Partially Blocks River, Raising Flash-Flood Threat

Nepal Landslide Partially Blocks River, Raising Flash-Flood Threat

A large landslide happened near the Chaulani River in Nepal.

Rocks and soil partly fell into the river and blocked some of its water.

Officials worry that another landslide could block the river completely.

If the blockage suddenly breaks, a fast and dangerous flood could move downstream.

People living near the river were told to stay alert.

Security workers are watching the area and informing vulnerable communities.

Nepal’s Armed Police Force said the river was still flowing normally at the time of the report.

Officials have also shared emergency phone numbers and prepared for a possible emergency.
