Cyclone Montha Damages Andhra Pradesh Power Infrastructure
A big storm named Montha hit Andhra Pradesh and broke many electricity poles and transformers.
The state's energy minister said that about 13,000 poles and 3,000 transformers were damaged.
Even though a lot was broken, the energy department sent a lot of people to fix the power quickly.
They managed to restore power to most places within a day.
The minister also mentioned that the Chief Minister said the state lost a lot of money, over 5,000 crore rupees, because of the storm.
He also criticized another political leader, saying he has no right to talk about storms because the current government was prepared and no one died, which he thought the other leader would be upset about.
Cyclone Montha caused damage to approximately 13,000 electric poles, 3,000 km of conductor lines, and 3,000 transformers in Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu estimated the state's losses due to the cyclone to be at least Rs 5,265 crore.
The Energy Department deployed nearly 1,500 personnel to restore power, achieving restoration in most areas within 24 hours.
