MP Indra Hang Subba Advocates Region-Specific Policies
Indra Hang Subba, a member of Parliament from Sikkim, had a meeting with other political leaders in the Parliament.
He talked about how India is a very diverse country, and policies about climate and development should be different for different regions.
He wants the government to make special policies for the Himalayan region because it has unique problems like floods and needs special protection for the people living there.
He also said that some groups in Sikkim, like the Limbu and Tamang communities, have not been given their rightful seats in the state government since 2003.
He asked all political parties to support changes in the law to fix this.
Sikkim MP Indra Hang Subba advocated for region-specific policies during an all-party meeting in Parliament.
He stressed that climate and development policies should not be uniform across India's diverse regions.
Subba proposed a parliamentary committee dedicated to the Himalayan region to address its unique challenges.
