Techies Plan Highest Ever Tricolour Hoisting Near Space
A group of techies from Karnataka are planning to hoist the Indian flag very high in the sky, almost reaching space, on Republic Day.
They are using a special hydrogen balloon that can go up to 1 lakh feet.
At 80,000 feet, the flag will automatically unfurl.
The balloon will burst after reaching its highest point, and the flag will safely come down with the help of a parachute.
They have built special electronics to track the balloon's location and height.
Cameras will capture the flag's descent.
The techies initially considered using a drone or an airspace but chose the hydrogen balloon because it can handle the cold temperatures at high altitudes.
Techies from Karnataka plan to hoist the Indian tricolour near space using a high altitude hydrogen balloon on Republic Day.
The balloon aims to reach 80,000 feet, where the flag will automatically unfurl, and potentially go up to 1 lakh feet.
The team initially considered using a drone or an airspace but chose the hydrogen balloon due to its ability to handle extreme cold temperatures.
A Nichrome wire mechanism will be used to cut the rope and unfurl the flag at the target altitude.
The balloon will burst after reaching its highest point, and the payload will descend safely using a parachute, with cameras capturing the descent.
