Preeti Saran Appointed Chair of UN Committee on Rights
Preeti Saran, a former Indian diplomat, has been chosen to lead a United Nations committee.
This committee, called CESCR, works to make sure countries are following rules about people's rights related to their finances, social lives, and culture.
Saran previously held important positions, including being in charge of India's relationships with several countries and representing India at international meetings.

She also served as India’s Ambassador to Vietnam and Consul General in Toronto.
