Kuno National Park Cheetahs Treated for Parasite Prevention
In Kuno National Park, 22 cheetahs received medicine to protect them from tiny bugs called parasites, like ticks.
These bugs can make the cheetahs sick, especially when it's rainy and humid.
To give the medicine, the cheetahs had to be gently put to sleep temporarily.
This was done to avoid issues due to the last monsoon's parasite outbreaks.
Now, park staff are creating a special guide to help take care of these cheetahs and other wild animals.
Kuno National Park officials treated 22 cheetahs with Bravecto to prevent parasitic infections.
The treatment targeted ticks, especially during the monsoon season.
Administering the treatment involved tranquilizing the cheetahs.
High humidity in the 2023 monsoon caused parasitic outbreaks leading to cheetah deaths.
A capture and immobilisation manual is being prepared for wildlife managers.
