Onion wholesale prices fall 9 percent over nine days

Onion prices in wholesale markets have gone down by 9 percent in nine days.

The government hopes this will eventually make onions cheaper in shops.

However, onions still cost much more than they did last month and last year.

The average retail price was Rs 53.92 per kilogram on Tuesday.

The government says there are enough onions available.

It has been selling onions for Rs 35 per kilogram to help people.

These discounted onions are being sold through retail stores and mobile vans.

Officials expect retail prices to start falling soon.
