Power Restored to Temple After Disconnection Over Dues
A temple in Vijayawada had its power cut off because it hadn't paid its electricity bills in a long time.
The temple used generators to keep the lights on while they talked to the power company.
After some discussions, the power was turned back on.
The temple also has a solar power plant that makes electricity every day.
Power supply to the Sri Durga Malleswar Swamy Varla Devasthanam temple was temporarily disconnected by APCPDCL due to unpaid electricity bills since February 2003.
Temple authorities used generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the outage.
The temple operates a solar power plant generating 24 MW of power daily and receives free electricity for 10 services in return.
Power supply was restored after discussions between temple and power department officials.
The temple is located atop Indrakeeladri hill in Vijayawada.
