India Says It Had No Alternative but to Admit Hasina

Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh during a time of turmoil in August 2024.

Her aircraft then arrived in Delhi.

India’s envoy, Dinesh Trivedi, said India had not expected her arrival.

He said the plane was Bangladeshi military aircraft, not an Indian military aircraft.

Trivedi said Hasina was still Bangladesh’s prime minister at the time.

He said India had little choice but to let the plane land.

Bangladesh has asked India to send Hasina back to face legal proceedings.

Trivedi said the two countries’ legal systems are examining the issue.
