HMDA Procures European Trimming Machinery for ORR Maintenance
The HMDA in Hyderabad has bought special machines from Europe to trim the plants along the 158-kilometer Outer Ring Road.
These machines can trim seven kilometers of greenery quickly, which would take 10 workers five days to do manually.
The HMDA is also using automated irrigation systems to keep the roads safe.
The maintenance of the ORR is managed by IRB Infrastructure Developers for 30 years under a special agreement.
The HMDA is replacing manual workers and old water tankers to keep both the workers and drivers safe.
There have been serious accidents involving workers trimming the greenery, so this change is meant to prevent such incidents.
HMDA procured trimming machinery from Europe capable of trimming up to 7 kilometers of greenery.
Automated irrigation systems deployed to enhance road safety and reduce worker exposure.
ORR maintenance leased to IRB Infrastructure Developers for 30 years under a TOT model.
HMDA phasing out manual workers and traditional water tankers for safety reasons.
Multiple fatal collisions involving greenery workers have occurred on the ORR.
