Delhi Court Sentences Five Convicts to Life for 2020 Murder
A Delhi court gave life sentences to five people who killed a police officer named Ankit Sharma in 2020.
The judge said the crime was very brutal, but the court did not think the killers were beyond reform, so they didn't get the death penalty.
The killers were found guilty of murder, kidnapping, and other crimes.
Ankit was taken to a building, beaten, and thrown into a drain where his body was found the next day.
The case started after Ankit’s father filed a complaint at a police station in Delhi.
Five convicts received life imprisonment for the murder of Ankit Sharma.
The court rejected the prosecution’s request for the death penalty.
Convicts were found guilty under multiple IPC sections, including murder and rioting.
Ankit Sharma was abducted, assaulted, and dumped into Khajuri Khas drain; body recovered the next day.
The case began with FIR 65 filed by Sharma’s father at Dayalpur police station.
