Women Lead in Financial Inclusion with APY Subscriptions
Women in India are leading the way in financial inclusion by signing up for the Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
This pension scheme helps people save for their old age.
As of October 2025, nearly half of all APY subscribers are women.
In the past few years, more women than men have been joining the scheme.
The APY is a voluntary pension system where people can save regularly and get a guaranteed pension after they turn 60.
The government supports this scheme, and it's especially popular among people in the unorganized sector, like farmers and housewives.
The total amount saved in the APY is over ₹43,000 crore.
Women are also leading in another scheme called PMJDY, where they make up more than half of the beneficiaries.
This shows that women are taking important steps to secure their financial future.
Women constitute 48% of the total 8.34 crore APY subscribers as of October 31, 2025.
In FY24 and FY25, 52% and 55% of new APY subscribers were women, respectively.
The APY offers a guaranteed minimum pension of ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 per month after age 60.
Total corpus under APY stood at ₹43,275 crore as of October 31, 2025.
Women also lead in PMJDY, constituting 56% of the beneficiaries as of December 3, 2025.
