NMC Advises Against New MBBS Seat Recognition Proposals
The National Medical Commission (NMC) in India has told medical colleges not to send new requests for recognizing MBBS seats.
Instead, they should focus on renewing their seats every year.
The NMC says that once a batch of MBBS seats is approved or renewed, it is considered valid.
Medical colleges must also submit an annual report online.
This new rule is part of the Maintenance of Standards of Medical Education Regulations, 2023, which replaces the old system of separate recognition.
NMC advises medical colleges not to send new proposals for MBBS seat recognition.
Medical colleges must submit an Annual Disclosure Report online for MBBS course renewal.
Annual renewal of seats is deemed as annual recognition for the academic year.
The new regulation replaces the previous system of separate recognition.
