Armed Violence in Haiti Displaces 1.3 Million People
Imagine a lot of people in Haiti, more than a million, had to leave their homes because of fighting.
This is happening because of gangs who control most of the capital city, Port-au-Prince.
These gangs have weapons that were brought in from the United States.
Because of the violence, many people are now living in places that aren't safe.
They don't have the things they need like doctors, schools, and clean water.
This is a very serious problem that's affecting many families, including children and the elderly, who have had to leave their homes multiple times.
1.3 million Haitians have been displaced due to armed violence in the last six months.
This marks a 24% increase in internal displacement since December.
Gangs control 85% of Port-au-Prince, fueled by weapons trafficked from the US.
Displacement is causing unsafe and unsustainable living conditions.
Many displaced lack access to healthcare, schooling, and clean water.
