Arunachal CM's family firms awarded 146 contracts
Four companies owned by the family of Arunachal Pradesh's Chief Minister, Pema Khandu, received 146 government contracts in the Tawang district between 2012 and 2023.
These contracts were worth a total of Rs 383.74 crore.
Some of these contracts, worth Rs 16.83 crore, were given directly without any competitive bidding.
The contracts were for building and maintaining roads, bridges, schools, and other public facilities.
Some groups have asked the Supreme Court to investigate these contracts, saying they might not have been fair.
The state government says that giving contracts without tenders is normal in Arunachal Pradesh, especially for smaller projects.
The Supreme Court has asked for more information and will hear the case again on February 3.
