Canada Increases Financial Requirements for International Students
Canada is making it a bit more expensive for international students to study there.
Starting September 1, 2025, students will need to prove they have more money to cover their costs, like food and housing, on top of tuition fees.
The amount of money needed depends on how many family members the student has with them.
For example, a single student needs to show they have about $22,895 per year, not including tuition.
This is to make sure students have enough money to live on while they study.
Canada is raising the minimum financial requirement for international students.
The new requirement goes into effect September 1, 2025, outside of Quebec.
The required funds for a single student will increase to $22,895 annually.
Students must prove they can pay for tuition, living expenses, and transportation.
Acceptable proof includes bank accounts, GICs, student loans, and bank statements.
