Vozinha Joins Colo Colo After World Cup Stardom Transfer
Josimar Evora Dias, a 40‑year‑old goalkeeper from Cape Verde, became famous during the World Cup for stopping Spain’s shots.
After the tournament, he signed a short contract with the Chilean club Colo Colo.
The club let him keep his nickname, Vozinha, on his jersey even though normally only surnames are allowed.
He will start playing for Colo Colo on 16 August against O’Higgins.
Fans in Santiago cheered when he arrived, and the club hopes he will help them win the league and qualify for the Copa Libertadores next year.
Cape Verde goalkeeper Josimar Evora Dias, known as Vozinha, signed a six‑month contract with Chilean club Colo Colo, with a 12‑month extension option.
The move follows his World Cup heroics, where he kept Spain scoreless and helped Cape Verde reach the round of 32, boosting his Instagram following from 50,000 to over 29 million.
Colo Colo obtained special permission from the Chilean Football Federation to allow him to wear his nickname “Vozinha” on his jersey, despite league rules that normally require surnames only.
