AI Boom Fuels JPMorgan's Asia Growth; Bank to Keep Hiring
JPMorgan Chase is one of the biggest banks in the world.
It helps companies in Asia with money and banking services.
The bank says this part of its business is growing very fast — more than 20 per cent this year.
One big reason is artificial intelligence, or AI, which is a very smart computer technology.
Companies that build AI need special buildings called data centres, filled with powerful computer chips called GPUs.
Building these things costs a lot of money, so companies ask the bank to help pay for them.
The bank also helps companies trade goods across countries.
Because there is so much business, JPMorgan wants to hire many more people in Asia.
It says it will keep hiring just as fast in 2027 as it is doing this year.
JPMorgan Chase plans to continue hiring across Asia Pacific at a similar pace in 2027, as its corporate banking business grows well above 20 per cent this year.
The bank expects to expand its Asia Pacific corporate banking workforce by about 15 per cent this year, following a 20 per cent expansion in 2025.
A surge in AI investment is driving demand for data-centre and GPU financing, with executives reporting 'a lot of inquiries' from companies building such facilities.
Taiwan, South Korea, China, Australia and Southeast Asia all recorded growth above the broader regional rate, which surpassed 20 per cent.
JPMorgan is also investing more in trade finance and working-capital financing as Asian companies expand overseas and diversify supply chains.
