Supreme Court Takes Direct Control of Sai Krishna Death Probe

Supreme Court Takes Direct Control of Sai Krishna Death Probe

The Supreme Court is examining what happened to Gade Sai Krishna after he was allegedly taken into police custody.

The court is worried because he was allegedly not brought before a magistrate.

It also questioned why a police report was not filed quickly after his disappearance was reported.

The court heard that CCTV footage from the police station had allegedly been deleted.

It has paused related proceedings in the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

The court will now watch the investigation itself.

The State said seven people were arrested and that investigators had filed a chargesheet.

An investigation report said Sai Krishna died from injuries allegedly caused by police personnel and that his body was later cremated.

The court ordered the State to provide its records and will hear the matter again on October 12.
