August 5, 2019 was India's darkest democratic day: Abdullah

A leader named Farooq Abdullah said something sad about his region, Jammu and Kashmir.

On August 5, 2019, the big government of India made a decision that changed special rules for that place.

Mr. Abdullah says the decision took away important rights and identity from the people there.

He called that day one of the darkest days in India's history.

He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir did not agree with the decision from the very first day.

His party wants to pass a special resolution asking for the old rights back.

He said his party will keep working peacefully and through democracy.

He also said another party, the BJP, is trying to divide the people, which he thinks is wrong.

He asked everyone to stay united and strong.

He wants the special status and statehood of Jammu and Kashmir to be given back.
