Centuries-Old Shipwreck Emerges on Vietnam Beach After Typhoon
A big storm in Vietnam called Typhoon Kalmaegi caused the ocean water to move away from the beach.
This revealed an old ship that has been underwater for hundreds of years!
Scientists think the ship is from a long time ago, between the 1300s and 1500s, when Hoi An was a busy place for trading.
They saw that the ship is made of strong wood and was built very well to last so long.
Experts are now trying to get permission to dig it up quickly to learn more about Vietnam's history.
They found it before in 2023, but it went back underwater, so this is a special chance to study it.
A centuries-old shipwreck was revealed on a beach in Hoi An, Vietnam, following Typhoon Kalmaegi.
Preliminary research suggests the ship was constructed between the 14th and 16th centuries.
The ship, at least 17.4 meters long, was previously discovered in 2023 but re-submerged.
Experts are preparing to apply for an emergency excavation permit to study the significant find.
The shipwreck is considered evidence of Hoi An's historical role in regional trade during its peak as a trading hub.
