Garuda Aerospace and BEL Partner for Indigenous UAS
Garuda Aerospace, a company that makes drones, and BEL, a big electronics company, have agreed to work together.
They want to make and sell drones to the Indian army and police.
This will help India make its own defence equipment without needing to buy from other countries.
They will use BEL's experience in electronics and Garuda's knowledge of drones to make these systems.
This is part of India's plan to be self-reliant in defence manufacturing.
They will make a more detailed plan later to decide how they will work together.
Garuda Aerospace and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) signed an MoU to collaborate on the supply of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for Indian Defence Forces and security groups.
BEL will act as the Team Leader and Lead Bidder, while Garuda Aerospace will serve as the Technology and Teaming Partner.
The collaboration aims to leverage BEL's experience in defence electronics and Garuda's capabilities in drone design and deployment.
The partnership supports India's Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative for self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
A separate Teaming Agreement will be entered into at a subsequent stage to define the binding terms of engagement.
