NHAI Plans Solid Waste Road Construction by 2027
Imagine all the trash in the country.
Now, imagine that instead of just throwing it away, we use it to build roads!
That's what the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) wants to do.
They plan to sort all the garbage and use it in road construction by the year 2027.
They have already tried this in some cities like Delhi and Ahmedabad, where they used about 80 lakh tonnes of trash for roads.
A minister named Nitin Gadkari is in charge of this plan.
This plan also mentioned some investments: Reliance Foods is investing a lot of money to build a food park and the Adani Group will invest in a coal project, both in Nagpur.
NHAI aims to use all legacy solid waste in road construction by 2027.
The initiative is led by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
NHAI previously used 80 lakh tonnes of municipal solid waste for roads in Delhi and Ahmedabad.
Reliance Foods will invest Rs 1500 crore for a food and beverages park in Katol, Nagpur.
