Bolivian Prosecutors Issue Arrest Warrant for Morales
Bolivia had big protests in May and June that stopped many people from getting food, medicine, and gas.
The government says a former president, Evo Morales, helped start those protests.
So prosecutors made a warrant to arrest him.
Morales is hiding in a place called Chapare to avoid being caught.
The current president, Roberto Paz, says Morales caused the trouble and has put the country in a state of emergency to stop more protests.
Prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for former president Evo Morales for fomenting protests that paralyzed Bolivia in May and June.
The warrant relates to investigations of roadblocks during the protests, tied to an armed uprising and terrorism complaint by a right‑wing civic group.
Morales is hiding in Chapare to avoid separate charges of trafficking a minor, which he denies.
President Roberto Paz, who is US‑backed, has accused Morales of orchestrating the unrest and has declared a state of emergency to quell demonstrations.
The protests caused severe shortages of fuel, food and medical supplies in several cities.
