Odisha Govt. Issues New Maternity Leave Guidelines
The Odisha government created new rules to help women working for the government who are having babies.
These rules are for 180-day maternity leave.
Women can take this leave before or after the baby is born.
If a woman joins the job after her child is born, she can still take leave until the child is six months old, but for a shorter time.
There are also rules for miscarriages, stillbirths, or if the baby dies soon after birth.
The main idea is to make sure all government departments follow the same rules, ensuring both mothers and babies are well taken care of.
Odisha government issued comprehensive guidelines for 180-day maternity leave.
The guidelines clarify how women employees can avail of maternity leave benefits.
Leave can be taken continuously or in phases, from three months before to six months after childbirth.
Employees joining after childbirth can avail of leave until the child turns six months old, with reduced duration.
Specific provisions are outlined for miscarriages, stillbirths, or infant death.
