NIA Raids Bastar Locations, Deputy CM Hails Blow to Maoist Funding
Imagine a group called Maoists who are fighting against the government in a region called Bastar.
They get money by forcing people and businesses to pay them, called 'levy collection'.
The police, specifically the NIA, recently raided many secret places where the Maoists kept their money and documents.
They found cash, papers, and even a laptop used to ask for this money.
This is part of a bigger plan to stop the Maoists from getting money, which they use to buy weapons and cause harm, like a big bomb blast that happened before.
The Deputy Chief Minister said this is like cutting off their money supply, which will help bring peace to Bastar.
So far, they have arrested many people and found evidence connecting them to the bomb blast and the money collection.
The NIA conducted synchronized raids across 12 locations in Sukma and Dantewada districts, Chhattisgarh, targeting the banned CPI (Maoist) organization.
The raids are linked to the deadly Aranpur IED blast in May 2023, which killed 10 DRG personnel and a civilian driver.
Recovered items include cash, handwritten documents, receipt books for levy collection, and a laptop used to coordinate demands from iron-ore transporters.
Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma lauded the operation as a 'decisive blow' to Maoist financial networks and a step toward lasting peace.
So far, 27 people have been apprehended in the Aranpur case, and the NIA continues its investigation into the matter.
