Bhopal Property Crackdown Faces Questions Over Supreme Court Figures

Bhopal Property Crackdown Faces Questions Over Supreme Court Figures

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation is checking businesses operating in residential areas.

Officials first said more than 62,000 properties were involved.

Later, the corporation’s documents listed only 7,617 or 7,951 cases.

This difference has raised questions about how the numbers were calculated.

The documents also use different numbers for premises that were closed or sealed.

The corporation found 296 cases involving illegal construction or changes to building plans.

A notice against one electronic showroom has remained unresolved for about three years.

The Supreme Court wants more information about these actions and building safety.
