Children's cries mark Kerala farewell to flood hero Rajesh

Something very brave but very sad happened in Kerala, a state in India.

A lot of rain made a river flood, and a farmer named Benny got stuck on a small piece of land in the middle of the water.

A brave man named Rajesh, who knew how to swim very well, jumped into the water with some friends to save him.

When they were swimming back, Rajesh took off his own life jacket and gave it to the farmer to keep him safe.

Without his life jacket, the strong water pulled Rajesh away, and he sadly passed away.

Rescue teams searched for him and found his body the next day.

Many people were very sad, especially Rajesh's children, who cried and wanted to see their father one more time.

The leader of Kerala came to say goodbye, and Rajesh was given special honours at his funeral.

The government promised to finish building Rajesh's house to say thank you for his bravery.
