India-Taiwan Tech Ties Amid China Concerns
India thinks Taiwan is a very important friend when it comes to technology, especially because Taiwan makes a lot of computer chips.
India wants to work more with Taiwan to help its own technology grow and become stronger.
They already have a special school program where students from India and Taiwan learn together about making chips.
India also wants to build a special place, called a science park, where Taiwanese companies can come and work.
This would help India learn more and make better technology.
But there are some problems.
China, which is a big neighbor, doesn't like this and has been acting strongly, even detaining an Indian woman because of a dispute over a state called Arunachal Pradesh.
India needs to be more confident and work more with Taiwan to protect its own interests and not miss out on important opportunities.
Meanwhile, China wants to have better defense talks with India, but India is being careful about it.
India and China trade a lot, especially in electronic goods, but India is cautious about getting too close in defense matters.
India sees Taiwan as a crucial technology partner, particularly in semiconductor manufacturing.
A joint master’s program in semiconductor technology exists between Taiwanese universities and the Indian Institute of Science.
India is considering establishing a Taiwan science park to attract Taiwanese companies and foster long-term collaboration.
China's assertiveness, including the detention of an Indian woman from Arunachal Pradesh, is highlighted as a concern.
India needs to adopt a more confident and consistent approach to Taiwan to protect its sovereignty and strategic interests.
