Nepal Flash Flood Raises Concern as Bihar Monitors Gandak River

Nepal Flash Flood Raises Concern as Bihar Monitors Gandak River

A sudden flood happened in Nepal near the Rasuwa district.

The water entered a chain of connected rivers.

One of these rivers becomes the Gandak when it reaches India.

The Gandak flows through parts of Bihar.

Because the rivers are connected, Bihar’s authorities are watching the water levels carefully.

They are especially watching the Valmikinagar Barrage and low-lying areas.

However, officials say a flood in Nepal does not automatically mean Bihar will flood immediately.

The final impact will depend on the amount of water, rainfall, other rivers and barrage controls.
