CBI Takes Over Odisha Police Recruitment Scam Investigation
A big test to become a police officer in Odisha had some problems.
Someone called the police with a secret tip that the test questions might have been leaked.
Police stopped some buses with students going to get coaching on the leaked questions.
Because of this, the test was postponed.
The Odisha police arrested many people, including the main person suspected of organizing the cheating and the students.
But, the government thought the cheating was very big and involved important people and maybe people from other states, so they asked a special agency called the CBI to take over the investigation.
The CBI will now try to find out who all were involved, including any powerful people helping the main suspect.
The test will happen again after the investigation is finished.
The CBI has registered an FIR and taken over the investigation into the Odisha police sub-inspector recruitment scam.
The probe was handed over to the CBI due to suspected involvement of an organized criminal syndicate and influential persons, as well as the scam's spread to multiple states.
The scam surfaced after an anonymous tip led to the interception of buses carrying 114 aspirants to Hyderabad for coaching on leaked exam papers.
The Odisha Police Crime Branch had previously arrested 126 people, including the alleged mastermind Sankar Prusty.
Aspirants were allegedly asked to pay Rs 25 lakh each to receive confidential information and coaching on selected questions for the exam.
