US Announces New Sanctions Against Networks Supporting Iran Proxies

The United States has placed new financial penalties on people and companies accused of helping groups supported by Iran.

The affected networks are in Iraq, Lebanon, and Turkey.

The United States says they helped Hezbollah and Kata’ib Hezbollah.

Officials want to stop money from reaching these groups and Iran’s military activities.

The sanctions are part of a campaign called Operation Economic Outcast.

The Treasury Department also reached a $1.43 million settlement with a US citizen over 39 alleged sanctions violations.

It asked people to report suspected efforts to avoid sanctions or launder money for Iran.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control said it will reject most requests for special permission to do Iran-related business.

Officials said this policy will continue until Iran changes certain actions.
