Mithun Chakraborty Backs Closure of Bengal’s Unrecognised Madrasas

The West Bengal government is checking madrasas that may not have official approval.

It sent closure notices to 252 institutions and asked 100 others to explain their status.

The government is examining who funds them and how they are managed.

It is also checking student enrolment and registration documents.

Mithun Chakraborty said this review is important for national security.

He said the issue had not received enough attention from earlier governments.

Minister Khudiram Tudu said the institutions must show valid authorisation.

If they cannot, they may be closed.
