Flash floods caused major destruction in Nepal after an ice-rock avalanche near the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26.

The floods swept through towns and villages in northern and central Nepal.

Reports said between 1,365 and 1,377 people had died, with the numbers changing as more bodies were found.

Thousands of people were still missing, although the reports gave different estimates.

Rescue teams had saved 13,656 people.

Many bodies were recovered in districts such as Chitwan and Nuwakot.

Some identified bodies were returned to families.

Other bodies were preserved while officials collected DNA samples to help identify them.
