Kynan Chenai, Neeru Dhanda Win Asian Games Mixed Trap Gold
Kynan Chenai and Neeru Dhanda competed together for India in a new shooting event.
Each shooter still followed their own careful routine.
They encouraged each other without interrupting each other’s focus.
The pair was fourth after the qualifying round but improved during the competition.
They defeated Qatar to win the gold medal.
Their result also created an Asian record.
Neeru had won the individual trap event the day before.
The victory gave India a quota place for the mixed-team event at the 2028 Olympics.
Kynan Chenai and Neeru Dhanda won the inaugural Asian Games mixed-team trap title in Nagoya.
The Indian pair recovered from fourth place in qualification to defeat Qatar in the gold-medal contest.
Their victory set an Asian record and secured India a quota place for the mixed-team event at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
Chenai said the pair succeeded by maintaining separate individual routines while drawing energy from each other.
The gold followed Dhanda’s individual trap victory and Chenai’s earlier individual disappointment at the Games.
