Charter Stockholders Approve Cox Communications Merger
Charter Communications, a big cable and internet company, is buying Cox Communications.
This means the two companies will become one.
The shareholders, who own parts of Charter, voted and almost all of them said it was a good idea.
The deal is worth a lot of money.
Once the deal is done, the company will be called Cox Communications, but the service people use will be called Spectrum in certain areas.
The company hopes to save money by combining the two companies, and it has a good track record of doing this.
Charter Communications stockholders approved the acquisition of Cox Communications.
Over 99% of votes cast at the special meeting supported the transaction.
The deal, announced in May, values Cox at $35.4 billion and aims to close mid-2026.
The combined company will be renamed Cox Communications, with Spectrum as the consumer brand.
Charter expects roughly $500 million in annual cost savings within three years of the closing.
