Rijiju: Govt Ready for Debate on Student Protests, No Disruptions

In India, there is a big building called Parliament where leaders make decisions for the country.

Some leaders called the Opposition were upset because they believed police were too rough with students who were peacefully protesting in a place called Jantar Mantar on July 20.

They said the police used pellet guns, batons, tear gas, and even electric shocks against the students.

The Opposition wanted the Home Minister, Amit Shah, to explain in Parliament what happened.

A leader named Rahul Gandhi asked the Supreme Court, the highest court in India, to watch over an investigation.

The government, through Minister Kiren Rijiju, said it is ready to talk about the student protests in detail.

But it asked the Opposition not to interrupt when the Home Minister gives his answer.

The Opposition also complained about other things, like money missing from a temple and a new bill they think is unfair.

Because both sides kept arguing, the Parliament meeting was paused until 2 pm.

The leaders are still trying to talk about these issues.
