CJP Leaders Head to Delhi Despite Protest Permission Denial

CJP Leaders Head to Delhi Despite Protest Permission Denial

The Cockroach Janta Party planned a protest in Delhi on October 10.

The group wanted to oppose a process for revising voter lists and called for election chief Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

Its founder, Abhijeet Dipke, travelled from Mumbai toward Delhi.

Two other party leaders also said they were on their way.

Delhi Police did not give permission for the protest, saying it could cause serious law-and-order problems and inconvenience people nearby.

Dipke said people should be allowed to protest peacefully and accused authorities of stopping people from travelling.

The Aam Aadmi Party and several Left parties said they would join.

The report describes plans and statements ahead of the demonstration, not its outcome.
