48-Year-Old Elephant Maniki Finally Sleeps Peacefully After Years of Pain

Maniki is a 48-year-old elephant who is finally sleeping peacefully after years of pain.

She used to live in Assam, where she worked in the logging industry.

A heavy log once fell on her leg and badly damaged it, leaving her in constant pain.

Even though she was hurt, she was made to walk nearly 95 kilometres on her injured leg.

She also had other health problems, including trouble seeing, infected wounds, and dehydration.

In June 2026, Maniki was brought to Vantara, a special animal care centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

At Vantara, doctors gave her treatments like hydrotherapy, acupuncture, and good nutrition.

After about one month of care, Maniki finally lay down and slept deeply without interruption.

Sleeping well is a good sign that her body is starting to heal.
