Bhogapuram Airport Set to Boost Andhra Pradesh Air Travel
A new airport called Bhogapuram will start flying planes on August 17.
It is in a place called Vizianagaram in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
People who live far from Hyderabad will use this airport instead of flying from there.
The airport will have flights to cities like Singapore and Sharjah, and it hopes to add more routes soon.
It will also help people send and receive goods like medicine, flowers, and food.
The airport could bring more money to the area and make travel easier for many people.
Bhogapuram International Airport will open on 17 August 2024, offering domestic and international flights.
The new airport is expected to attract passengers from coastal Andhra, Rayalaseema, and north Andhra, reducing reliance on Hyderabad.
Vijayawada airport currently handles 27 daily flights with limited international routes and may lose revenue if Bhogapuram gains connectivity.
Passengers and industry groups call for restored international links to Colombo, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, and new hubs like Frankfurt and London.
Cargo potential includes pharma, gold, flowers, mangoes, cashews, and marine products, with calls for dedicated cargo and courier services.
