Jadavpur University Tightens Attendance Rules, Cites Work Culture

Jadavpur University has reminded employees to follow fixed office hours.

They must arrive by 10:15am and stay until 5:30pm.

Arriving after 10:15am counts as being late.

Arriving after 10:45am can lead to being marked absent in red ink.

Employees also need permission to leave before the office closes.

Acting registrar Debajit Datta said the rules should help restore a regular work culture.

The university also sent three years of executive council records to the higher education department.

A teachers’ organization wants the department to examine decisions it says may have been illegal.
