Canada Announces Tariffs on US Goods After Trade Talks Collapse

Canada and the United States were trying to make a trade deal, but the talks broke down.

The United States placed large taxes, called tariffs, on some Canadian products.

Canada plans to answer with its own tariffs on American goods.

Canada also offered money to help workers and businesses hurt by the dispute.

Ontario warned that electricity and important minerals could also become part of the disagreement.

These minerals are used in military equipment and other important products.

Canada says it needs to protect its industries and French-language rights.

The United States and Canada disagree about what happened in the trade talks, while China could gain more Canadian business.
