MCX Announces 5:1 Share Split
MCX, a company in India, is splitting its shares.
This means each share will be divided into 5 smaller shares.
This change will happen on January 2, 2026.
Because of this split, the price of each share will be much lower.
For example, if a share is worth ₹11,000, after the split, it will be worth ₹2,200.
This change will also affect futures and options contracts.
The number of shares in each futures contract will increase from 125 to 625.
For options, the strike prices will also be divided by 5.
Traders don't need to worry too much because this split won't change the overall trend of the stock.
They just need to know about these changes in their contracts.
MCX announced a 5:1 share split with a record date of January 2, 2026.
The share price and all derivatives contracts will be adjusted accordingly.
Futures contracts will be carried forward at the daily settlement price on January 1 divided by 5.
The lot size for futures contracts will increase from 125 shares to 625 shares per contract.
Options strike prices will be divided by 5 from January 2.
