Climate Activist Harjeet Singh Arrested

Climate Activist Harjeet Singh Arrested

Harjeet Singh, a well-known climate activist, was arrested in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday for having too much liquor at his home.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED), a central agency, is also investigating him for allegedly using foreign money to influence the Indian government's policies.

The ED claims that Singh and his organization, Satat Sampada Pvt Ltd, received a lot of money from foreign groups and used it for activities that could harm India's energy security.

Singh has denied the allegations, stating that the funds were for legitimate consultancy and climate advocacy work.

The ED is also looking into his trips to Pakistan and Bangladesh, alleging that these trips were part of a larger plan to promote a treaty that would phase out fossil fuels.

Singh was released on bail on Tuesday.
