Yami Gautam Celebrates Maheshwari Handloom Legacy in Black Saree

Yami Gautam shared photos wearing a traditional black Maheshwari saree.

The saree was made by a weaver from a family that has practiced weaving for seven generations.

It uses silk, cotton and shiny zari thread.

Yami said the saree represents the hard work of artisans.

Maheshwari weaving comes from Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh.

Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar helped develop the craft by bringing skilled weavers to the area.

Yami wore the same saree when she received a National Award for her acting.

Her post celebrated both Indian clothing and the people who keep this tradition alive.
